Episode 33: What the difference is between bodily and personal injury?
Audio Transcript
Roxell Richards here, your favorite injury attorney, and I want to talk to you about what the difference is between bodily injury and personal injury. Okay, sometimes we use those two terms interchangeably. But when you have a personal injury, we’re talking about the different injuries that can act that you have that may not necessarily be on your body. For example, mental anguish, that is a type of injury that you can actually recover money if you have been injured as a result of somebody’s negligence or maybe something, right? Then there’s also impairment. Let’s say for example, there’s a limitation and you’re unable to do any physical activities or anything like that, and that you were able to do it prior to the accident, that’s also a compensable damage. Then we have what’s called like your pain and suffering. We also have disfigurement, which kind of deals with maybe any conjoined dysfunction appearances that you may have as a result of your accident. That is to a bodily injury, right? So when we talk about personal injuries, those are the combination of different categories of personal injuries, and I didn’t cover all of them. But then on the other hand, you have just your regular bodily injury, right? So if you have past pain and suffering, that can be something that you can recover because you were in pain as a result of the accident, right? So that would be a sort of bodily injury, and then like I said before, you have disfigurement. The thing that you need to understand is that it takes a personal injury who understands all of the compensable damages that you can recover, whether it’s the full category of personal injury or even bodily injury, to help you with your claim.
